Yeah also as a freshman this year at norwich i do not believe that the school is as tough as i heard it would be. I believe that a group such as s.s would be good for the school so that ppl would uphold the standard of the school. I believe that in just covering and babying freshman that cant handle the pressure it just makes the "distinction" that i am supposed to achieve less valuable.

I am a recent Norwich Alum and have been trying to find out more about the Skull and Swords. I do believe that they were still on campus when I was at the wick, but I have not been able to find out more. If anyone is willing to tell me more please leave your aim screenname on here. Thanks.

I am a junior at Norwich mere days from getting my Ring. I feel Jackman has since lost sight of the the mission of the school and reason for the Corps to exist. They coddle the civilians and punish the Corps unfairly. A sole Rook can run to Jackman and get an entire cadre staff fired without question. There needs to be a regime change at Norwich and I think the SS can help. I believe they are still around, things like that don't just die on the Hill.
I asked a member of Jackman where on campus it said ""In the centuries to come let all who enter through this gate be faithful to the past." He had no idea. SAD! Any info on the Skulls and Swords, or the Night Riders please email me at nu.cadet@hotmail.com

I graduated in '84 and back then the greatest honor you could get was to be picked for S&S. I knew many of them and was friends with several. S&S would help out if you got in trouble with the law and needed $ or other problems. They would also intimidate guys who sold drugs or guys that just bothered them [night riders]. One problem I had with S&S was that they made a big deal out of the honor code and I know some of them cheated, and others had used dope prior to becoming S&S. The really bad thing about S&S was that it broke up friendships. Once you were a clam [i.e. S&S member] you were cut off. I was close friends with one guy I played football with, and after his selection to S&S that was it. They hung out with each other and there was always tension betw. the chosen and his old friends. Most guys who were picked were either good athletes, pinhead types, or good students who were popular. S&S was considered the cream of the crop and there was endless speculation of what the secret was. From what I saw, I know there was some kind of strange occult crap involved [probably adapted from masonic rites]. I talked to my friend who was picked for S&S and he told me he was terrified during the initiation because all kind of bizarre stuff would happen, [i.e. objects appearing on his desk, things disappearing] In fact I remember going to his room at that time to talk and he looked like he was in another world. He was scared of something and he didn't scare easily.

I'm an NU Grad of 87 and was very close friends with several of the SS; my room ate was one of them. It's a shame that they did away with them (formally). I have to believe that they live on - underground. At least I hope they do. It's a great school, and I hate to see the liberals peck away at it. SS will at least uphold the honor and traditions of the school.

I am a member and I will tell you this: the past is better left alone. If you don't know about these societies do not comment. If you are not a member, do not comment, and if you are not involved and looking to be; don't hold your breath.

One question for those that graduated around 1993-1995.
What was the meaning, what was the group and who were the cadets in the picture in the back of the 1994 yearbook? I heard the picture was ripped out of many of the yearbooks on campus, but no one had much information on the group. The picture seemed out of place, but it looked real

There are a few that know what they are taking about here. I'm an alum. What is in the past should stay there.

Looks like it just got all cryptic in here. North and West are only drawing more questions. Leave the past alone? Please...
