572 were numbers that lit up on the clock. I remember it had something to do with Skulls and Swords possibly being a signal of when they are in session. I believe that there are underground passageways. I went to the bottom floor of the library and you can see areas in the library floor with large metal coverings that look like they can be lifted. I was told that the passageways connected to all of the main buildings but I never had a chance to see them. Also it was rumored that only Skulls and Swords used them

Skull and Swords is a hate group, also Skull and bones , racist against native Americans . Why do universities have hate groups like this? Actually they were there to protect the student body from the Nightriders, the true hate group. I remember going to a member of Skull and Swords about a serious incident and they handled it. We were told that we can approach the members with serious situations/issues without going through the rank system. They were very honorable and it is a shame that they were removed. I secretly hope that they remain a secret society and continue to help the student body.

I am a rook here at Norwich now so I will be apart of the 2019 class or the bicentennial class (hopefully). I hear over and over how everything is changing here and what not so basically I am just curious and want to know more. This school has endless history, stories and tales and I would love to know anything I could, especially about things like the Skull and Swords organization. I know this thread hasn't been used in a while but it has also been active for many years so hopefully I can get something. I really think it is interesting how much there is to learn and I would like to absorb as much as I can, especially because I will be apart of the 200th class. I made an email, norwichstu19@gmail.com, it has no connection to Norwich or anything just made it for this specifically. Just a curious rook!! Thanks in advance.

Chet, I am suspecting that you mean S&S, not S&W. While Smith & Wesson also got it's start in the 1850's, I'm guessing you mean Bones. If that isn't the case, who is S&W? -Berube

My dad was Bill Dedrick, NU Class of 1942. He was in Skull and Swords as well as Night Riders. He never told me much about eithet but Mom said they were hellraisers. Dad got an offer to play for the Detroit Lions upon graduating, but he was committed to taking his Army commission.
God I miss that guy. RIP Dad.

If one was to do their research, one would know that former cadet colonel, former commandant of cadets, and current engineering professor Mike Kelley was skull aND swords when he was a cadet. Current Asst. Commandant Bill Pascal acquainted another former cadet colonel was skull and swords as well. Just a brief history lesson for the kiddos on here.

Passalaqua was not in Skull & Swords. Look in the year books for who had the honor and burden. 572
