Jason Springer '00 is the newest member of the Norwich University institutional advancement staff. Jason joined Norwich as a major gifts officer effective April 26.
A native of Canton, Mass., Jason most recently worked in the institutional advancement office at another alma mater, Xaverian Brothers High School, in Westwood, Mass. He served as a capital campaign associate for a year before a two-year stint as director of alumni and special events.
In these roles, Jason coordinated a number of major fund-raising and alumni events that raised about $500,000 annually.
"Coming back to Norwich is a huge opportunity for me professionally," said Springer. "It's definitely the right thing for me to do right now, and there is a great team of people here that really care about Norwich and want to make it even stronger."
"We're very pleased to add Jason to our staff," said Charlie Crosby, director of major gifts. "He brings solid fund-raising experience from his time at Xaverian Brothers, and as an alumnus of Norwich he has the added benefit of understanding the University and its constituency."
As a student at Norwich, Jason was a member of the Corps of Cadets, Echo Company, and was active in the student activities office and as a reporter for the Guidon, as well as a Guidon Bearer. He graduated in 2000 with a major in communications and a minor in business management.
As an undergraduate, Jason credits the Colby Military Writers' Symposium for helping kick start his professional career.
"I was working on a story for the Guidon, and the last person I needed to speak with was CNN's Frank Sesno, who was moderating the public session," said Jason. "I asked for a minute of his time, and ended up with 45 minutes, and shortly after that he offered me an internship with CNN in Washington, D.C."
Jason also worked with WVNY-TV in Burlington, VT, and with New England Cable News in Newton, Mass., prior to his work with Xaverian Brothers.
Jason takes over the major gifts position previously held by John Linfield '94, who will continue to work with Norwich as an alumnus volunteer while pursuing other business interests in Maine.
