I was the selected member, "chosen one" for my MP class (we actually called it Recruit Death).
You are correct, a few years before my freshman year, SS stopped selecting MP's due to an unfortunate incident involving 420. However, we continued to make a selection each year to represent "that side" of our MP class.
I was very proud to have been selected by those that went before me and did my best to continue our traditions.
If anyone would like to discuss it futher, please send an e-mail : norwich94@aol.com
BTW, the quote is....
Lend every man thine ear, but few thy tongue. For those who know do not speak and those who speak do not know.

My grandfather was in S&S 1944, and supposedly he wanted a military doctor in the family, though I never knew him. I was left a letter and it said it was a great organization when he was there. Unfortunetly, most of his norwich days have been destroyed. It is funny that I should end up at Yale and now in the medical corps as he planned.
I hope the new members are upholding the same values that he had when he was there, and nice job keeping it running underground.

IT ALL DOESN'T MATTER WHO THEY ARE OR WHAT THEY DO. IT'S JUST A GLORIFIED FRAT TRYING TO BE LIKE SKULL AND BONES.
STICK TO YOUR STUDIES AND DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME THINKING ABOUT SUCH FOOLISHNESS.
IT SURE AS HELL WON'T HELP YOU IN IRAQ ,GRADUATE SCHOOL, OR YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER.
GET YOUR DEGREE AND GET THE HELL OUT AND THINK ABOUT MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR COUNTRY.
OVER AND OUT!!

No572, is there any chance of giving the Caps Lock key a break if you post again? There is no harm and I'm not calling a foul, but the general etiquette is that if you are posting in ALL CAPS YOU ARE YELLING.
The discussion here has been interesting so far and I'd like to ask that any replies be directed to what was said and not how it came across. I think the people that do come by here to read the board would prefer a discussion to posts consisting of "quit yelling at me."
That being said, there is a disclaimer on this topic and all I am doing is asking.

I must applaud the "younger generations" of NU MCV for actively seeking to increase their knowledge of the "Hill." It is refreshing to see them pursue a better understanding of the past.
However, I must question some of my fellow alums who are continuing the cycle of "i once heard" and "he said..."
I feel that I must repeat the quote that has already been stated above,
" Lend every man thine ear, but few thy tongue. For those who know do not speak and those who speak do not know."
All will become clear in the cold waters of the Dog and The Spirit of The Hill will conquer forever!

I'm a senior this year. All I've ever heard have been rumors and stories. Last night, I ventured to the clock in the chapel. On a beam was "572" spray painted to the beam. Other things were spray painted but appeared to be painted over or almost entirely removed by facilities. Few people know anything about S&S on campus. JB Stevens '64 in the CE department knows a little, but even he has retired now. Things are going downhill around here. I understand times are changing, but there are too many people only out for personal gain. Norwich needs a group like S&S to rekindle that Norwich pride and sense of family that has all but died. If anyone has answers or comments, I can be reached at summit1986@gmail.com
Thanks in advance.

It's nice to know that there is interest in the history and tradition of Norwich.

I can't tell you who to talk to, but since your email address is there, you might get a private response from somebody. -Berube Who can I contact if I am interested in additional information regarding Skull & Swords?
