Can't really give much when you don't get anything in return.

Yes, you are correct about GTE. You are wrong about the ego, we earned our company heads, and are proud. There was a lot of tradition in A-CO, just like the Bravo Boys (also long gone)... Also, I was not in any SS while I was there, never said I was. I know a few member from my time up there, and they are still proud.

Well in my experience/opinion...there was a lot of tradition in ALL companies...A B C D E F G H I HQ MP BAND.
I always just found it interesting that there was this GTE stuff written all over the place like it was something other than another company on the hill. And I sincerely apologize if I offended in regards to the ego. It was just my experience with some A-Co folks that they were under the impression that they were the only ones with traditions and sacred rites of passage.
All I'm saying is that it didn't matter what company you were in, we all got our butts kicked climbing up paine in the middle of the night to toilet paper our company letter on the hill. We all had our little occult ceremony at our secret company recognition. We all got smoked in the woods in the middle of the night by the dark cadre. We all listened to the same songs while getting smoked behind closed doors. Thanks billy joel for that one.

We appreciate the kind words 'FixingThing' It is quite a shame what happened to our company, but also what is happening to our school. The NIB may be dead at Norwich, but the 145 forever lives on. LAAE BOYS

"Im amazed by the narrow focus of this conversation. The Truth was always written on the desks of Webb Hall. Its been too long since a pumpkin was placed on top of Jackman Hall on Halloween.
There was always a counter balance for these groups mentioned through this conversation and who knows maybe these still live on somewhere."
Yes, perhaps.

I will be a rook this coming fall and I am very interested in the history and rumors at Norwich. I live the school, I love the traditions, and I love the atmosphere. If there is any information anyone can give me on the secret tunnels, anything other secrets or rumors kept from the form. the meeting places of the S&S, or just information on the S&S themselves please send me an email. I am very curious and very adventurous. Thanks.

I was in Artillery and became the battery commander my senior year. Even I don't truly know what 145 stands for. We were told that when Norwich was first founded it was an artillery school and not cavalry (this much I know to to be true, just look at the original insignia of the first few cadet colonels). What I was told was that it was the 19th artillery that was brought to Norwich to train the cadets and in photos they would hold up fingers to represent the number 19. One person would hold up one finger, the next person four fingers, and another person would hold up five fingers (4+5=9). Now I've never actually seen any old photos of anyone doing this (other than my buddies and I), nor can I confirm that it was truly the 19th artillery at Norwich training the cadets. Norwich is a crazy rumor mill so who knows what's true?
As for the secret societies at the Wick, I know from the president of the last recognized group of S&S that who ever is on the campus calling themselves S&S is not recognized by the true S&S as being one of them.
As for the ENB (the Knight Riders), they're still there... Or at least there is a group of people that like to call themselves that are still there. Some were kicked out while I was there, others that cooperated with the investigation were allowed to stay and finish their degrees. All of the "secret societies" say they are there to help other cadets and to continue the traditions of Norwich... but what do they really do? They go through an initiation, once they're in they have secret meetings, they drink together.
I knew of a cadet that was in the NIB with me that got a girl pregnant and needed a few hundred bucks ($300 if memory serves me) for her to get an abortion. No one but his artillery buddies helped him come up with the cash, and yes there were a lot of Knight Riders that knew of it because Artillery was where the Knight Riders primarily recruited from. I was friends with a lot of the Knight Riders, they were mostly good guys (a few putz) but they didn't actually have any sway, pull, or do anything to actually help the school or its students.

In response to members of the NIB giving and envelope of cash to the pregnant cadet (who was very short and in Airforce ROTC your comment could not be more wrong and false. The RONRB -Royal Order of the Nightrider Brotherhood gave me the money. I can tell you being it was for an arbortion is caused quite an argument in the group and in the end it was decided that providing the cash was what would best help the cadet; the decision to provide or not to provide money in situations always comes down to the best interest of the cadet(s). There are two people out there who know the exact truth, the cadet and the cadet who got her pregnant (who happens to now be a successful Airforce officer)
Two Knightriders names are proudly carved into the Harmon Wall-Mark Dooley and Anthony Palermo-Anthony was "kicked out" in 2002-if you are truly "an expert and in the know" in regards to secret societies you would know we were not kicked out, hence the keeping of our commissions. Do more research, it's fascinating.
We Riders have been around since the schools beginnings and always will be. We have been known to drink and be loud-but your comment "they had no sway"-you and I both know it holds no merit. A better comment would be you did/do not like we had/have sway.
There is a saying, it's kinda of a joke to us-you know it, it reads "Long live the Knightriders, may they return"-we cannot return, we have never left. Our members are old and young, grandfathers, fathers, Soldiers, retired and still serving. There have never been any cadets on campus claiming to be Knightriders-we are. It is an old, proud and strong tradition that will never go away.

So the Knight Riders now have to go online to defend themselves and claim that they do exist? What happen to the whole "those that know, do not speak" BS.
Seems to me that some people have taken this stuff way to seriously. It's now clear to me that 'Royal Order' is/was good for 3 things...
1. Drinking in the woods. 2. Ritualistic, Masonic Initiations that take place in the woods. 3. Paying for abortions.
And now, instead of being transparent and honest, they defend themselves online and continue to use the same vague BS lingo that has carried them through the years. 195 year old tradition. Way to go guys.

I have checked this site for years-it's kinda sad it's pretty much dead. I'd like to share my experience with the Knightriders finally. I said I never would but a lot of time has passed and its a shame that the reputation of the guys that left the school in 2002 is negative. I would not have stayed and graduated without their help and the things they did to assist me. The day they were leaving two of my friends were waiting for me to get out of class. They said they just saw two riders crossing the UP and they had knight rider stuff written on their uniforms and they were going to alumni hall. I ran to alumni and caught up with them and a few of your room buddies behind the building. One of the rook buddies was crying and his rider rook buddy said don't cry, ur gonna make me cry. I started crying instantly. They came over and gave me a hug and said dont cry, it's going to be okay. I said how can u be ok with this, how can u let them kick u out. They smiled and said look I will hear a lot of things but we r not being kicked out. They opened a folder and showed me their papers. They had agreed to leave and agreed the knight rider group was done on Norwich. I will never forget what they said next. They said this is what we have to do. This is bigger then us. It's our responsibility to Norwich. I said but there will be no more knight riders. They laughed and said there will always be riders. We are leaving to protect the young ones we have chosen. They are riders now, our legacy. The minute we leave they take over, it's all done and set. His rook buddy who was still crying asked who r they, they said when u need to know u will, if u never need to know u never will. With our leaving Jackman will call off the witch hunt. We won't be the last riders to leave here, hopefully though it doesn't happen again for years to come. They were so at ease at what they were doing. He said to me u have been through a lot, u concentrate on graduating and nothing else. U will still have no more problems. And I didn't. I was harassed and stalked me and ended up pinning me down. Long story short the guy stopped. Say what u will but a few people who see this will know who I am. I'm proud to have known the knight riders. I hate that so few know the truth about them but I guess if they don't care it's fine.

I knew, but I never knew at the same time that most of my best friends were in fact riders. They all got kicked out a couple years ago. Where the hell has the help been? Everyone who even had connections was thrown in the fire.
Sucks, hanging on by a thread gentlemen.

If 572 is no longer active and around, why are they prominently featured in this coming Alumni Weekend schedule of events. It says right there in the program there is a Skull and Swords lunch happening on Saturday in broad daylight at Mliano Hall ? I gues if you want to learn something, show up at the lunch and start asking questions. You'll be fine.

I don't know about a few years ago, the only Night Riders that I know left the school in 2002. I've haven't heard or seen that any others were kicked out since they were. That being said I graduated in 2003. They were great guys in my book and took care of me. If you are on campus and hanging on by a thread I feel bad for you. The Riders I knew were very quick to assist cadets-maybe the right people do not know you need help.
