Cadet Hockey Number One in Preseason Poll

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Norwich University, the 2003 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey National Champion, has been selected as the number one team in the country in the US College Hockey Online preseason Division III poll.
Norwich, 27-3 last year, received 14 of 15 first place votes in the weekly poll of coaches and sportswriters. The lone dissenting vote was cast for St. Norbert, a team that the Cadets beat in the NCAA semifinals last season.
Oswego State, which lost to Norwich 2-1 in last year's national championship game, was picked second in the poll.
Norwich begins preseason practice this weekend, as the Cadets look to defend their national title.
The Cadets open the regular season on November 21 at Tufts University. The Cadets home opener is slated for December 5th at Kreitzberg Arena, when the Cadets host Hamilton College.
Norwich has five opponents ranked in the preseason poll on their regular season schedule, as well as a potential meeting with Oswego or St. John's in the Times Argus Invitational at Norwich on January 3rd.
