Does anyone know any history about the Ranger Platoon/Company here at Norwich?
I can start us off with one thing that recently made history:
I'm if you go here or have gone here you know about MCW (Mountian Cold Weather) and Rangers - the elite organizations, as far as the corps is concerned, well the upper class MCW cadets, were about to start off their Survival Weekend, 2 days of survival on Payne Mtn. finding points on a map, without food, and sleep, and working under a time limit (in and of itself an incredible task), this year, there was about 2 feet of snow and it was around 0 degrees, which makes it all that worse.
So there I was...going down to Rangers for a normal training day, when we get word that we are going to be performing a mission: we will raid the MCW Shack, take the cadets hostage, blindfolded and tied up, under gunpoint and obviously against their will, and then take them as our EPWs (Enemy Prisioner of War) to Payne Mtn. where other Rangers would conduct an ambush, "freeing" these cadets, and thus sending them off on their survival weekend with a kick.
the great thing about this thing is, the 2 commanders of each company planned everything, without anyone knowing, as to create a real life, element of suprise. Let me just tell you, charging into MCW's huge furnished "shack" and pointing an M-16 at them, tying them up and seeing the looks on their faces, is something i will never forget. But unfortunately, this is probably something that could never happen with such flawlessness, and im proud to be a part of that.
