BURLINGTON - One of three former Norwich University football charged with possessing anabolic steroids pleaded guilty on Tuesday to the misdemeanor charge.
Andrew Berry of Berlin faces up to a year in prison and a $1,000 fine. No sentencing date has been set.
Matthew Anderson of Clearwater, Fla., and Carl Schrempf of Hampton Falls, N.H., are also charged.
According to court records, the three men purchased 1,025 steroid tablets from a company in Taiwan, which they found on the Internet.
They were charged in April.
All three were sophomores on the Norwich football team a year ago. None is listed on the roster this year.
Norwich University President Richard Schneider said the military college had responded to the federal investigation by approving other new drug and alcohol programs for students, faculty and staff, including random drug-testing for student athletes and non-athletes when there is reasonable suspicion.
